Banana Peanut Butter Doggy Oatmeal

Making this peanut butter banana oatmeal is a breeze. It is one of my go-to homemade dog food recipes. The Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal smells delicious, and you can whip it up in a matter of minutes. Your dog will go crazy for the flavours while getting a nutritionally complete homemade dog food meal. It is a great healthy dog food recipe for picky eaters. The banana adds sweetness, while the oats, flaxseed and hemp seeds pack a ton of fiber.

Ingredients:

  • Water 6 Cups 1500 g
  • Quick Rolled Oats 3 Cups 390 g
  • Flaxseed Meal 3 Cups 312 g
  • Dog Child Essential Nutrient Mix 3/4 Cup 86 g
  • Natural Peanut Butter 1/3 Cup 102 g
  • Hemp Hearts 1/2 Cup 57 g
  • Mashed Banana 2/3 Cup 181 g

Directions:

  1. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Gradually stir the oats and flaxseed meal into the water, mixing together well.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In the meantime, mash up your bananas.
  5. Once almost all of the water has been absorbed, carefully stir in the peanut butter, bananas, hemp seeds, Dog Child Essential Nutrient Mix and calcium carbonate or egg shells.
  1. Add in additional water if required.
  2. Mix well to make sure the ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Let cool and portion out to serve.
  4. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 2-4 days, or freeze them to be defrosted at a later time.

Salmon Fried Rice

Just chop up a few veggies and toss some rice and salmon together, and your pup will have a healthful rice dinner in no time. This homemade salmon dog food is a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids for your pup. This tasty combination of salmon, rice, carrots and peas is the perfect meal for your pup. We recommend either salt-free canned salmon for dogs, or you can follow our recipe for easy instructions on how to cook salmon for dogs.

  • Salmon (de-boned) or Canned 1.2 lbs or 525 g
  • Water 2 Cups or 400 g
  • Carrots (Include Tops) 5 Carrots or 200 g
  • Green Peas (Fresh or Frozen) 1 Cup or 113 g
  • Brown Rice Cooked 2 Cups (3⁄4 Cup Uncooked) or 225 g
  • Dog Child Essential Nutrient Mix 1⁄2 Cup + 1 Tbsp or 68 g

Directions:

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add in ¾ cup of rinsed brown rice; cook uncovered with a steady boil for 30 minutes (add in carrots and peas at the 20-minute mark).
  2. Preheat your oven to 180 F. Put the salmon in tin foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.  Always check for any bones in the salmon.  Alternatively, you can use salt-free canned salmon.
  3. Finely dice carrots and peas in a food processor or by hand.
  4. Add carrots and peas into the cooking brown rice when there are 10 minutes left (if using already cooked brown rice, then lightly steam veggies).
  5. Add cooked or canned salmon to the rice mixture.
  6. Stir in the Dog Child Essential Nutrient Mix.
  7. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely before serving

Brown rice is a great ingredient to add to your dog's diet, as it is an amazing source of carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Whenever you make rice for yourself, try to double the recipe and divide it in two before adding any seasoning to have extra on hand.

Mixed Veggie & Beef Skillet for Dogs

This DIY dog food will have your dog begging for more. You can cook the chicken ahead of time or in the same pan as you go. This one-pot dish is fun to make and will have you envious of your dog's meal. The fish oil adds extra omega oils that can support your dog’s skin and coat.

Directions:

  1. Thoroughly wash carrots & broccoli then either finely chop by hand or in a food processor - the finer the chop the better.
  2. Place ground chicken in a pan with 1 cup of water.
  3. Add in the finely chopped vegetables and bring to a simmer.
  4. Cook approximately 5-7 mins until chicken is gently cooked and veggies are tender.
  5. Add in peas & almond milk and continue to cook for another minute or until desired consistency.

Turkey & Berry Homemade Dog Oatmeal

This is another homemade dog food recipe with our easy-to-use Meal Mixes. This time we are using our Organic Oats & Berries Meal Mix with turkey. Turkey is a lean protein that is highly digestible. It is also a good source of iron, zinc, potassium, and vitamin B6. Combined with our Organic Oats & Berry Meal Mix, its antioxidant-rich fruits promote healthy skin, coat, and gut health.

Our Chickpea Cauliflower Bowl is a perfect easy meal for your dog. If you are tired of handling raw meat, this is the homemade dog food recipe to give a try! This recipe is great for showing dog parents how to prepare vegetables for dogs. The ingredients have some of the best vegetables for dogs; they have a ton of nutrients and will nourish your pup like no other. It is a great mix of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibre and carbs. You have the option to add calcium carbonate or eggshell powder for an extra source of calcium. It is a quick and easy recipe to make; just be sure to let it cool completely before serving.

Cod & Scrambled Eggs with Grain-Free Meal Mix

This recipe is good for dogs with allergies, it is both grain free and a great alternative to red meat or poultry. Cod is full of amino acids while being low in carbs, fat, and calories. Our Grain Free Mix is packed full of high-fibre legumes; when mixed with cod, it is a fantastic support for your dog’s health & immunity.

This is the best homemade dog food for a couple of reasons; If you're like us, you always get to the end of the month with a dozen eggs still in your fridge. This recipe is a great way to reduce food waste and use your expiring carton. This egg-based dog food is easy to make and uses minimal prep time. Finally, it is high-protein dog food made with plenty of whole foods. The basic ingredients are eggs, bread, vegetables, and our Essential Nutrient Mix. Day-old or stale bread works best for this casserole. We love all the recipes in our dog cookbook, but our Dog Child pups loved it the most.

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, beat your eggs, Olive oil, and Dog Child Essential Nutrient Mix.
  2. In a food processor, carefully add your cubed multigrain bread and pulse until they make bread crumbs.
  3. Fold the bread crumbs into your egg mixture.
  4. Next, add your veggies. Chopped peppers, spinach, parsley and eggshell powder to the food processor and pulse until finely chopped.
  5. Add the processed veggies to your egg mixture and mix well, making sure that all of your veggies are at least touching some of the egg mixture.
  6. Pour the mixture into your pan and cover. Cook on Mediumvoccasionally stirring.
  7. Remove from the stovetop and let cool completely before serving.

Directions:

  1. In a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, heat 4 tbsp of fish oil.
  2. Add the fish filets to the pan. Grill the fish on each side for several minutes, checking the middle for doneness (fish should be completely white and flake apart easily, you can also cook the fish in the oven)
  3. Remove fish filets and set them aside.
  4. In a food processor, add the chopped potatoes, green beans and green peas. Pulse until finely chopped.
  5. Add the processed vegetables to your pan and add in your water. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Once the veggies have cooked, add your grilled fish, essential nutrient mix, and fish oil to the pot.
  1. Pull apart the fish and mix everything together until well combined.
  2. Let cool before serving

Directions:

Stove top

  1. Place the cubed sweet potatoes, rolled oats, spinach, kale, and parsley in a food processor.
  2. In a pan cook the ground beef until it is nearly done.
  3. Add the processed veggies to the pan and pour in the water.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes until the water is absorbed.
  5. Once cooled, you can feed to your pup!
  6. Toss in the freezer in a square mould for 30 minutes to make It easy to cut into uniform slices

Oven

  1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 F
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, quick rolled oats, essential nutrient mix and water; use your hands to combine.
  3. Add in the finely chopped spinach stems, finely chopped kale and mashed potatoes. Transfer to a loaf pan. Smooth out the surface at the top.
  4. Cook for about 1 hour.
  5. Remove from the oven (if there is grease on top you can remove it and spread the mashed sweet potatoes on top of the loaf, and cook for another 10 minutes. Or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 F.
  6. Let cool completely.
  7. Cut into portions and store in an airtight container to keep it in the fridge or freeze for a later date!

Dogs love getting a chance to try different tastes and textures. Whether you want to simply treat your pup to a slice of banana in the morning or try out some of our homemade dog treat recipes below.

Plant-Based Banana Dog Muffins

These simple and delicious muffins smell so good! Packed with antioxidants, fiber, and protein, these treats will add some essential nutrients to your dog’s diet while helping to keep your dog feeling fuller for longer. When we say simple, we mean it! All you need is a blender and a muffin tray.

Oats are a wonderful ingredient because they are very digestible and also high in protein. This makes a satisfying and healthy start to the day. Break up the muffins to give them to your dog rather than serving them whole. They’ll last longer that way too!

Ingredients:

  • Banana 2 Ripe Bananas
  • Almond Milk 1/2 Cups
  • Peanut Butter 1/4 Cup
  • Turmeric 1 Tsp
  • Oats 2 Cups

Directions:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor until fully combined
  2. With a large spoon, scoop out small portions of muffin mixture into a treat press or muffin tins.
  3. If using a press (similar to ours), cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. If baking, bake at 350 for 16-20 minutes or until golden brown
  4. Let the muffins cool before serving them to your dog as a treat!

Cucumber Mint Cooling Treats

These Blueberry, Cucumber & Mint Ice Cubes are the perfect thing to add to your dog’s water on a hot summer day. Blueberries contain antioxidants, fibre, and vitamins c & k. They support your dog's immune system and overall health! Just remember that the bluer the berry, the more nutrient-dense it is! While the mint freshens their breath!

Ingredients:

  • Cucumber 1/2 Cucumber
  • Mint 1/2 Cups
  • Blueberries 1/2 Cup
  • Water 1 Cup

Directions:

  1. Place the cucumber, mint and blueberries into a blender and blend until fully incorporated. Feel free to add in a handful of parsley or any other dog-friendly greens you have lying around your kitchen.
  2. Pour the liquid into ice cube moulds (we like to use these cute paw moulds we found on Amazon).
  3. Freeze for three hours. The Ice cubes can stay in the freezer for up to a month!
  4. Add a cube to your dog's water bowl for a special treat on a hot day!

Peanut Butter Dog Ice Cream

A quick and easy recipe to make the best use of your fruit scraps like strawberry tops! Don’t throw them out, make this delicious and nutritious snack instead. We always try to epicycle what we can into our dog’s diets. Strawberry tops are completely safe for your dog to eat. Strawberries have the added benefit of strengthening your dog's immune system.

Ingredients:

  • Full-Fat Coconut Milk 1 Can
  • Peanut Butter 1/4 Cup
  • Oats 1/4 Cup
  • Strawberry Tops 1/2 Cup

Directions:

  1. Pour your coconut milk, peanut butter, oats, and strawberry tops into a blender. We recommend using natural peanut butter (Make sure your peanut butter is Xylitol Free!)
  2. Blend until completely smooth, then pour into your ice cream mould
  3. Freeze for two hours. You may have to let it soften before you can scoop
  4. Scoop into your dog's bowl and top with frozen berries!
  5. Serve as a treat, this is not intended to be a meal replacement or a regular part of your dog’s diet.

Directions:

  1. Place salmon on a baking sheet and cook for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees
  2. Take the salmon out of the oven and flip it over.
  3. Carefully slice the skin of the salmon off and place it back on the baking sheet
  4. Place the salmon skin back in the oven for 10 minutes until crispy
  5. Remove skin from oven and let sit for 5 minutes
  6. Once cooled, break the skin into small pieces and serve
